Silicon windows

Silicon windows, Silicon plates

Crafted from optical-grade silicon, Silicon (Si) windows are renowned for their versatility. With a low density, half that of germanium, silicon proves ideal for weight-sensitive applications.

Silicon windows exhibit minimal absorption within the infrared wavelength range of 1.2 to 7μm, rendering them suitable for incorporation as optical components in infrared light systems.

Windows are typically available in a variety of  sizes and thicknesses. Here is a standard examples of manufacturing in stock:

Silicon Windows
Uncoated and AR-Coated Versions Available
Available Diameter (mm) Thickness (mm)
12.7 3
25.4 5
Size Tolerance +0.0 / – 0.2mm
Thickness Tolerance + / – 0.1mm
Wavelength Range (Uncoated) 1.2 – 8.0 μm
AR Coating Range 3.0 – 5.0 μm
Clear Aperture >90%
Parallelism <2 arc min
Surface Quality 40 – 20 scratch-dig

Perfect for infrared (IR) applications spanning the spectral range of 1.2 to 7 µm, these windows are offered either uncoated or with anti-reflective (AR) coatings, ensuring less than 2% average reflectance specifically from 3 to 5 µm.
